Slow down time with unique experiences.

When you look back at your life, you may notice that some periods went by super-fast while others seemed to wander by at a more leisurely pace.  Why is that?

The faster times in our life are usually filled with routines and repetition.  While this is great for progress in the areas we choose to focus – health, sports, parenting, work, etc., it doesn’t create new reference points in the mind to differentiate memories.  Everything seems to blend together, and each year seems to go by faster than the last.

However, the slower times in our lives are filled with new and rich experiences.  As you add these experiences into your schedule, you’ll notice that you have more reference points to break up time.  These memories are often the ones you can easily reflect back on.

You don’t have to plan a big vacation to have a unique experience.  You can schedule new activities during evenings and weekends.

Boating? Hiking? Wine tasting? Driving to a new natural park? Visiting a local museum? Cooking class? Salsa Dancing? Social gatherings/Playdates at home?  The sky’s the limit!

So, when you find yourself doing the same things day in and day out, and you can’t keep track of what day it is anymore, it might be time to add some new adventures to your calendar (maybe even some that are out of your comfort zone) and notice if your perception of time changes.
